Ok amid much pressure from certain colleagues-namely Kelly Rhyne at SIUE-I'm forced to post here. As a side note I plan to update the blog at KFNS.com over the weekend regarding the new signees (what I know) for SIUE men's basketball. That being said here are a couple of things that have me stirring...
Blues Playoff Thoughts....

People who know me know I am NOT a Blues fan, but even I must admit the recent run stirred the homer in me. I even watched a bit of some of the games. I have three thoughts. First has there ever been a better playoff beard than the one goalie Chris Mason sported during the playoffs? Hard to believe if there was.

Second, the television broadcasts just aren't the same minus Ken Wilson (right). He was more crisp, had a better pace and no one brought more excitement. Just one guy's opinion. Oh Baby!
And speaking of voices, as we were, how about another season behind the mic for my good friend Tom Calhoun. The P.A. voice of the Blues makes that atmosphere. I didn't get to a game in person this year, but I didn't have to. Anyone who attends games knows what I'm talking about. And this summer, as always, you can catch him at Grizzlies games too! Make Some Noise!
SIUE Softball...
One team that NOBODY here at SIUE worries about when it comes to making the transition to Division I is the softball team. Head Coach Sandy Montgomery has her team playing outstanding-which is nothing new. They were Division II National Champions in 2007 and have barely missed a beat since. They are 36-10 and have an RPI in the 40s. The last two home games come up next week Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday is a double-header beginning at 5:00 and there is all kinds of things planned around the game. There will be free food and drink, giveaways and a general party atmosphere. KFNS Radio will be out promoting the event throughout the afternoon and I'll have the game live on WSIE (88.7FM in the St. Louis area).
Sad Story...Grizzlies manager Phil Warren sent me this link. Sad story about a high school baseball player in Missouri who was killed after being hit by a pitch.
Here's is the story from the Post's websiteNew Voice...We have a pattern here today, don't we? Anyway Adam Young will be joining me on Grizzlies' home broadcasts this year. Adam is a junior comm major at SIUE. If you've listened to any Grizz games or SIUE events over the past year or so, you have no doubt heard me mention Adam's name countless times. He has worked his rear end off as the studio engineer for most of our games. You may have even heard some of his work on men's basketball features. I think he'll do great, and the best thing is we already have a great rapport, and that will only add to the broadcasts. We'll have a fun summer, and that should translate (hopefully) to some entertaining games on the radio!
There you go...a new post...I may go away for long periods, but I always come back, don't I? Thanks for sticking with me.
